hooked at 14
Boxing has been part of my life since I first stepped into a gym at 14. What started as a challenge quickly became a passion that has stayed with me ever since. Over the years, I’ve competed in the Philadelphia and Los Angeles Golden Gloves, boxed while serving in the U.S. Air Force, and gained firsthand experience through 20 amateur bouts. I later moved into coaching, including serving as an Assistant Coach for the Penn State Boxing Team.
My connection to the sport goes back even further. Much of my foundation came from my grandfather, Benjamin Shargorodsky, a five-time national champion and Olympic boxing trainer with more than 300 amateur bouts. His knowledge and respect for the sport had a tremendous influence on how I learned boxing and how I approach it today.
That philosophy is at the heart of 4 Korners Fitness. I believe you shouldn’t have to become a competitive fighter to experience real boxing training. You can learn proper technique, footwork, defense and conditioning in a safe environment built around your individual goals.
My goal is simple: help everyday people train like fighters without having to become one. You’ll get an incredible workout, but you’ll also develop a real skill that you can continue learning, refining and building confidence in over time.
My Inspiration
This is my grandfather, Benjamin Shargorodsky. Here he is with his fellow teammates representing the former Soviet Republic of Ukraine at the 1952 National Championships.
Starting out!
Here I am on the left, on my way to winning the 156Ib Semi-Final bout at the 2002 Philadelphia Golden Gloves Amateur Boxing Tournament. I was 17 in this photo and had been boxing competitively already for 3 years.

Passion Discovered
Pictured on the right, I was the Assistant Coach of the Penn State Boxing Team. This is where I discovered my passion for teaching the sweet science! This photo was taken following a show in Pittsburgh, PA against other collegiate teams. We won 3 of 4 bouts that night!
